I don't need to tell you that people are desperate for money these days. I personally have scoured the internet looking for any and every way to make money. For over a year now, I have been using GPT sites. While there is a nice chunk of change to be made from completing offers, the real money is made referring people to these sites.
Many new referrers find themselves frustrated with finding referrals. I've heard so many people say "There's no one to refer!" which is absolutely not true. Combine the suggestions in this article with your own motivation, and you will soon be a referral pro.
If you are not yet a member of a GPT site, here are links to my personal favorite sites.
Site #1
High paying offers, high referral commissions.
Site #2
A fun approach to doing offers.
Ask friends for help - If you have a friend that works at a grocery store or fast food, ask them to hand out business cards for you.
BE HONEST! - Honesty and integrity will get you much further in the referral game. People who lie to get referrals spread doubt to potential referrals. If a person gets scammed or lied to, they will tell other people about it.
Blogging - Blogging will probably be your most valuable tool when trying to get referrals. Make your blog interesting and informative.
Bumper stickers - Place a bumper sticker on your car with a very short message. i.e. "Free money www.referrallink.com."
Business Cards - Print out some business cards with a short catchy liner on it. Include your email and website. Do not include your actual referral number. Use a website redirect or advertise your blog. This is a good idea because people will not type out your entire referral link. Pass out your business cards everywhere you go. Leave them in the baby aisle at the grocery store. Leave them at arcades. Leave them everywhere!
Buy "Paid to Sign Up" offers on GPT sites - Some GPT sites will allow you to buy "Paid to Sign Up" advertising. Your referral link will show up as an offer for GPT site member to complete.
Buy ads in a college newspaper - These ads are typically cheaper than a local newspaper, and target a great audience.
Buy advertising on websites - Advertising on other GPT sites is great targeted advertising.
Buy Google Adwords or Facebook advertising - This advertising is targeted, so if it is in your budget, go with it.
Chat Rooms - Find chat rooms dedicated to financial topics. Talk to people about GPT sites and how they work.
Classified ads - Put a cheap ad in your local paper under the employment section.
Cross promote - If you have multiple blogs/sites, be sure to cross promote them.
eBay items - If you sell on eBay, put a business card in all your items you send out.
Hot Topics - Pay attention to what is going on in the world. Post on sites that are getting a lot of hits due to current hot topics.
Learn SEO - Give yourself an advantage over other bloggers. Learn how to optimize your rank in Search Engines.
Link exchange - Offer to place a friend's link on your site in exchange for a link on their site.
Make flyers - Design a tear tab flyer and post it everywhere you can. Bulletin boards, on apartment mailboxes, etc... Do NOT ever put anything in someone's mailbox. This is a federal offense.
Make your screenname on games your referral link - Spread your link in the virtual world in games like WoW, Runescape, SWG, etc.
Offer free referrals - Offer to help your referral get some of their own first referrals.
Offer incentives to sign up - Advertise your referral link with an offer like cash, gift cards, or some other prize. Be creative, but be sure that your prize does not cost more than you will make from your referrals.
Order a stamp with your referral link - Stamp your referral link on all your outgoing mail, and any other place you can think of.
Order Pencils/Pens - Order pens or pencils with your referral link on them. Go to the library or unemployment office and ask them to put your pencils out for people to use.
Place your flyers in newspaper boxes - Go to grocery stores and place your flyers in the newspaper boxes. There are many free papers that don't require money to open the box.
Post on Forums - Read the terms of service of each individual site before you do this. If there is no rule against putting your site in your forum signature, then go ahead. Be respectful to forum moderators if they do not want referral program sites on their site. Posting links where they are not wanted is SPAM.
Put flyers or doorhangers on doors in your neighborhood - Write something catchy and spread the word with a flyer. Print out flyers in half sheet or quarter sheet size to save paper. Colored paper will increase reader's interest.
Put your links in your email signature
Refer friends and family - If you think your SAHM (stay at home mom) sister would enjoy using a GPT site, then tell her about it!
Refer online game friends - Send messages to your contacts on XBL, PSN, WoW, etc.
Send a mass email to everyone in your address book - Explain briefly what the site is, and offer to help to anyone interested.
Social Bookmarking - Add your blog to sites like del.icio.us, StumbleUpon, or Digg.
Traffic Exchange - Utilize traffic exchange sites.
Twitter - Create an account dedicated to referrals. Build up your followers list and tweet about interesting things. Mix in some tweets with your referral link.
Word of Mouth - Stand outside the grocery store or other public area passing out flyers or business cards. Make yourself available to answer questions.
Write your referral link on your restaurant bills - Chances are, your server could use some extra cash!
YouTube - Create a YouTube channel dedicated to the programs you use. Include your referral link in your videos.
